The Virtuous Burglar
In 1998, we embarked on our first 'longer' drama production. Up to this point we had solely worked on supporting the worship at Christchurch and a few small sketches in the Christmas and Summer concerts.

We chose 'The Old Geyser' by J Melluish - a one act farce featuring all the comedic elements you expect from a Ray Cooney West End production (without the trouser-dropping!).

In just two performances, we raised a substantial amount of money for the refurbishment of a local church damaged by fire.

Following this success, in 1999 we decided to produce 'Parlour Game' by Philip Johnson. This is a comedy set in the mayor's office during a town hall bazaar when a priceless emerald necklace goes missing. Again, the show was a great success and great fun was had by all involved.

The millennium production from CURTAINS! took the form of an interactive whodunnit called "Murder in the Air" by Peg Sheldrick. For another ambitious production, we managed to secure a performance at the Queen Mother Theatre in Hitchin and also a night at Central Methodist church in Letchworth.

After a five year gap, CURTAINS! returned to the QMT with Dario Fo's farce "The Virtuous Burglar".
